A hands-on look at installing your own solar system.

Yes, it is legal to install your own solar system in Montana. On grid, off grid, batteries? Seems a daunting task and what are the risks? Allow solar installers Chris and Michele Evans to guide you through the ins and outs of solar. Join the solar buying collective and help yourself and others tap into this clean unlimited resource at wholesale prices. Do some or all the labor yourself and save. This class will cover: legalities and permitting, sizing and choosing a location for your system, equipment purchasing and installation safety. After that end of things is covered there will be a Q and A workshop covering the options, difficulties and challenges you may face installing your own.

We will have inverters, solar panels, cables, racking, and a variety of other equipment on site for a hands-on look at how all this equipment comes together to form a safe, legal, working solar system. Expect to pull off some covers, do some wiring ,and walk away with a working knowledge of how to transition to the new solar energy future! After the class anyone interested can join us for a brief tour of two Livingston systems where homeowners did it themselves.

Instructors Chris and Michele Evans are the owner, operators of Earth Wind and Fire Solar. They have been installing solar and wind power systems in South West Montana for 16 years. The do it yourself off grid solar and wind system they designed and installed was used to build their raw piece of land into a working homestead. It still powers their home, shop and offices today. This remote off-grid homestead provides for most food and energy needs year round. That first system was the catalyst for Earth Wind and Fire where they have worked at helping others gain energy independence ever since.
